LATEST TRADES BEFORE THE DEADLINE IS HERE!
This will be updated as hours go by, and I will be putting some grades onto it.
WARNING: My grades for every team trade will be opinionated. Thanks
1. Dallas gets Porzingis!
Dallas receives: Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr, Courtney Lee, Trey Burke
New York receives: DeAndre Jordan, Dennis Smith Jr, Wesley Matthews, 2020 and 2021 1st rd picks
GRADES:
Dallas : A-
Dallas is preparing up their future by getting Porzingis. I can't wait for Doncic-Porzingis duo next season as the Mavericks have decided to rest Porzingis for the rest of the season. Getting THJ and Courtney Lee's actually not bad as Courtney Lee could get more minutes in Dallas. Trey Burke will be the temporary backup PG (Barea out for season) of Brunson as Brunson prepares to be the starting PG for Dallas in the foreseeable future.
New York : A
The Knicks finally got DSJ after getting by him in the last year's draft. As we saw, DSJ's doing great in New York! DeAndre Jordan's arrival in New York means Enes Kanter's time in New York is done. He may get a buyout, or be traded somewhere else.
2. Philly officially has the best starting 5 in the East!
Philadelphia receives: Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, Mike Scott
Los Angeles Clippers receive: Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, 2020 1st rd pick, 2021 1st rd pick (via Miami), 2021 2nd rd pick, 2023 2nd rd pick
Philadelphia: A+
With the arrival of Tobias Harris in Philadelpha, ladies and gentlemen, we now have another contender in Philadelphia. Philly had a hard time with Wilson Chandler as the stretch 4, and now Philadelphia got the REAL stretch 4 in Tobias Harris. Sources say that Philly may keep the BIG 4 by re-signing Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris. Getting Mike Scott and Boban will temporarily bolster their frontcourt, meaning Amir Johnson may be gone? Sacrificing first round picks for me is okay for Philadelphia since Embiid and Simmons will enter their primes as years go by, and Philly could be deadly.
LA Clippers: A
Has LA Clippers finally commit to rebuild? I think this trade is the sign of it. Getting multiple picks is the one I'm really looking at. Chandler may get minutes off the bench or as the stretch 4. Shamet could play alongside SGA, meaning BEVERLEY and BRADLEY will be traded soon.
3. Miami trades Tyler Johnson to Phoenix
Miami receives: Ryan Anderson
Phoenix receive: Tyler Johnson, Wayne Ellington (To be waived)
Miami : D+
What the fuck is Miami doing? Maybe this is the sign that James Johnson or Kelly Olynyk is on the way out. What they got is simply a three point shooting stretch 4, and nothing else. I feel sad for Tyler Johnson. Could this mean that Miami is rebuilding after this season?
Phoenix: B+
Getting Tyler Johnson maybe the temporary solution for Phoenix at the PG spot, as he may opt out of his player option in the summer. Wayne Ellington is expected to be waived to go to contending team. Toronto? Milwaukee? Lakers? Tyler Johnson will be great for Phoenix I can tell you that.
4. Chicago finally trades Jabari... TO WASHINGTON.
Chicago receives: Otto Porter, Jr.
Washington receives: Jabari Parker, Bobby Portis, 2023 2nd rd.
Chicago: B
This is actually not bad for me, but letting go of Portis is such a stupid move. C'mon Chicago what the fuck are you doing?! You could've given away Robin Lopez instead, eh? Let's admit it, Jabari Parker will never fit in Chicago as he is a power forward, not a small forward. He can play the 3, but is way too slow on defense. Getting Otto Porter, Jr. is actually a good move for me. They'll get a great small forward, who could slide down to the 4 slot given the chance. He plays great defense, and his length could help protect Lauri' Markannen's bad defense.
Washington: B-
For Washington, letting go of Otto Porter's a bad move, but this is a sign that they're on a complete rebuild. Bobby Portis is actually an upgrade in the PF position as he's having a great season, averaging 14 points per game off the bench for Chicago. He may start at PF for the Wizards. For Jabari Parker, he can the 6th man Washington needs right now. In reality though, Washington needs a PG and Lonzo could be on his way to Washington?
5. Lakers trade Svi to Detroit for Reggie Bullock
LA Lakers receive: Reggie Bullock
Detroit receives: Svi Mykhailiuk, and a 2nd rd pick
LA Lakers: A-
The Lakers basically bolstered their bench with Reggie Bullock. Bullock averaged 12.1 ppg for the Pistons on 38% three point shooting. This is one of the shooters the Lakers need, and Brandon Ingram might not be traded since he is a close friend of Reggie Bullock.
Detroit: A-
Is Detroit committed to starting Luke Kennard? This could be a sign. Getting Svi is actually a good move, too. They've added youth, and Svi's potential could be realized in Detroit.
6. Milwaukee lets go of Thon Maker, gets Stanley Johnson
Milwaukee receives: Stanley Johnson
Detroit receives: Thon Maker
Milwaukee : B
Letting go of Thon Maker was hard, but the Bucks insisted of letting him go. Stanley Johnson needed a change in scenery and Milwaukee could be that change. He needed a fresh start, and by going off the bench and play physical defense against the scorers in the league a la Jae Crowder could help.
Detroit: B+
I gave a higher grade to Detroit because Thon Maker's playing time will increase in Detroit. He could be the backup for both Griffin and Drummond. Welp, Griffin will be traded I can smell it from here. Stanley Johnson has not proven anything for Detroit, same goes with Thon. Thon's potential could be realized in Detroit under Coach Casey. Ironically, Thon was one of the headaches of Casey when he was coaching the Raptors.
7. Portland acquires Rodney Hood
Portland receives: Rodney Hood
Cleveland receives: Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin IV, 2021 2nd rd, 2023 2nd rd
Portland: A
Now this is the wing guy Portland badly needs! Getting Hood means Portland is prepared to win now, not later, not tomorrow. NOW. This is it for Portland. If they don't make a deep playoff run for the next seasons, its time for a full rebuild. This is now or never for the Blazers. Hood's not getting enough minutes for Cleveland, so in Portland he'll get those minutes and he's a deadly volume shooter.
Cleveland: C+
I gave a low grade because they'll use Sauce Castillo and Baldwin as trade baits for the next trade I'll post, in which it will increase. Getting those picks is huge though.
8. A three way trade that sends Iman Shumpert to Houston
Houston receives: Iman Shumpert, Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin
Sacramento receives: Alec Burks, 2nd rd from Cleveland
Cleveland receives: Marquesse Chriss, Brandon Knight, 2019 1st rd of Houston(Lottery protected?)
Houston: A-
The bench of Houston just got deeper, especially for the SG/SF positions. Getting Shumpert will improve Houston's bad wing defense. This also means that Harden could get less time, and still be effective. Stauskas adds more shooting, and Wade Baldwin's a solid point guard.
Sacramento: B
Sacramento's bench just got deeper as well by getting Alec Burks. Burks, a combo guard who can score from all angles(that has been bitten by an injury bug thoughout his career), will help Sacramento's bid to go to the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
Cleveland: A
Cleveland's just keep on getting picks after picks, which will help them in their rebuild. I gave them an A because of that effort.
9. Dallas sends Harrison Barnes to Sacramento
Dallas receives: Zach Randolph, Justin Jackson
Sacramento receives: Harrison Barnes
Dallas: A+
This is a great move by Dallas. Getting rid of that big fat contract of Barnes will help them get a big name free agent in summer. ZBo's on an expiring contract and Justin Jackson's a good role player for 3-and-D purposes. Dallas may be in for greatness for seasons to come.
Sacramento: B
Sacramento finally got the SF they needed, but for a price. This means Sacramento will have a veteran, who has championship experience that will guide these young players. A starting 5 of De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Marvin Bagley, and Willie Cauley-Stein (I hope Sacramento does not get rid of this guy) is actually a pretty balanced one, and will be one of the best young starting 5's in the league. I only gave them a B because of that big contract of Harrison Barnes.
10. Washington sends Markieff Morris to New Orleans
Washington receives: Wesley Johnson
New Orleans receives: Markieff Morris, 2nd rd
Washington: C-
This clears cap space because of John Wall's humongous contract. This will also remove somehow the logjam at the PF for the Wizards. This also means that the Wizards are ready for a full blown rebuild. I gave a C- because Markieff Morris was valuable for them and he's their enforcer.
New Orleans: B+
This prepares them in case AD gets traded. They'll get a great stretch 4 in Morris and another enforcer on their team. 2nd rd is to help them in case they rebuild. Stupid move for Washington to give up a pick.
This will be updated as hours go by, and I will be putting some grades onto it.
